Check Your Refund
You can check the status of your 2022 income tax refund 24 hours after e-filing. Please allow 3 or 4 days after e-filing your 2020 and 2021 tax year returns. When filing a paper return, check the status of your refund after 6 months or more.
What You Need
- Your Social Security or taxpayer ID number
- Your filing status
- The exact refund amount on your return
If Your Refund Is Delayed
Your refund may be delayed if your return needs corrections or extra review. If the IRS needs more information to process your return, they will contact you by mail. The IRS also publishes information about service delays here: IRS Operations Updates
